Know the Law

“Ignorantia juris non excusat”

Ignorance of the law is no excuse. As a firearm owner, you are strictly responsible for knowing and obeying all local, state, and federal regulations. Laws regarding transport, carry, and storage can change, staying informed is your primary duty.

The Cardinal Rules of Firearms Safety

1. Treat Every Firearm…
…As If It Were Loaded.

Verify the condition yourself. Never take anyone else’s word that a firearm is “empty.” Treat every gun with the same respect you would a loaded one.

2. Point the Muzzle…
…In a Safe Direction.

Control the direction of the muzzle at all times. If the gun discharges, no injury can occur as long as the muzzle is not pointing at a person or property.

3. Finger Off Trigger…
…Until You Are Ready to Fire.

Your finger stays outside the trigger guard until you have decided to fire and your sights are aligned with the target.

4. Know Your Target…
…And What Is Beyond It.

A bullet can travel miles and pass through walls. Identify exactly what you are shooting at and what lies in the trajectory behind it.
